Our Vision
The Economic Machine Learning (EML) Lab envisions a future in which empirical economic research is enhanced through innovative methodological approaches, supported by rigorous theories and implemented by efficient procedures. For such a future, the Lab aims to develop and disseminate novel frameworks, with relevant theories and methodologies, for machine learning designed specifically to analyze large-dimensional economic data effectively. The Lab also actively seeks ways to foster collaboration between researchers and practitioners, and to provide high-quality education to students at various levels, on the use of machine learning in economics.
Core Mission
The EML lab serves as a hub for:
- Research in the use of machine learning for the effective analysis of large-dimensional economic data including their relevant theories and implementation procedures
- Education of the students at all levels on machine learning methodologies and background theories applicable for the analysis of large-dimensional economic data
- Knowledge exchange and collaboration between academia and industry to solve practical problems in decision making and predictions requiring the analysis of large-dimensional economic data
